Valorization of Wastes from the Juice Passion Fruit Production Industry: Extraction of Bioactive Compounds from Seeds, Antioxidant, Photoprotective and Antiproliferative Activities

Summary: This study optimized the extraction process of yellow passion fruit seed waste using dynamic maceration (DME) and ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) methods. The best conditions for DME were 41 min at 45°C, while for UAE, it was 15 min at 45°C. The extracts obtained by UAE showed superior antioxidant activity and yield compared to DME. The extracts also demonstrated photoprotective and biological activities, suggesting their potential applications in dermo-cosmetic and pharmacological formulations.
