Dimensional assessment of uniformly periodic porosity primitive TPMS lattices using additive manufacturing laser powder bed fusion technique

Ali Mulhi et al.

Summary: This study analyzes the performance of 17-4 PH stainless steel printed PTPMS lattices using LPBF. The results show that increasing the lattice cell size leads to thicker lattice walls and larger pore size, but decreases the SA:Vol ratio. On the other hand, increasing the lattice porosity decreases the lattice wall thickness, but increases both the SA:Vol ratio and pore size. The printed lattice samples exhibit lower wall thicknesses and higher SA:Vol ratios compared to the designed values, which can be attributed to shrinkage during the printing process. The minimum printable wall thickness and pore size for PTPMS lattices are found to be 152 μm and 317 μm, respectively.

Effect of Interpass Temperature on Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing Using High-Strength Metal-Cored Wire

Wengang Zhai et al.

Summary: Wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) is used to fabricate large components with high deposition rate. In this study, a metal-cored low-alloy high-strength welding filler metal was used to prepare single wall structures using WAAM process. The interpass temperature has a slight influence on the microstructure and mechanical properties, with the highest ultimate tensile strength observed at 350 degrees C.

Selective laser melting of Cu-Ni-Sn: A comprehensive study on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and deformation behavior

Chao Zhao et al.

Summary: A comprehensive understanding of the deformation behavior and strengthening mechanism of the selective laser melted (SLM) alloy is crucial for maximizing the potential of the SLM process. This study focuses on the impact of SLM on the microstructure, deformation behavior, and mechanical properties of Cu-Ni-Sn alloy compared to their cast counterparts (CC). The SLM microstructure, characterized by increased dislocation density, offers a superior combination of tensile strength and ductility, mainly attributed to grain refinement, dispersed precipitation, and increased dislocation density.

Multi-scale pseudoelasticity of NiTi alloys fabricated by laser additive manufacturing

Dongzhe Zhang et al.

Summary: Pseudoelasticity behaviors have been observed in NiTi alloys fabricated by LAM, and they are influenced by load conditions, microstructural features, and phase constituents. Multi-scale indentation tests showed that pseudoelasticity performs best at the nanoscale, followed by the macroscale and microscale. Additionally, the improvement in pseudoelasticity leads to reductions in apparent hardness and Young's modulus.

Effect of Interlayer Delay on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Wire Arc Additive Manufactured Wall Structures

Shalini Singh et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effects of wire arc additive manufacturing on wall structures by varying the interlayer delay time, finding that increasing the delay leads to higher density, reduced width and height, and refined grain size in the walls. These changes result in improved micro-hardness and compression strength of the wall structures.
