Assessing the vertical synergies between outdoor thermal comfort and air quality in an urban street canyon based on field measurements

Chunping Miao et al.

Summary: Outdoor thermal comfort and air quality are important factors in urban environmental quality. This study analyzed the correlations between outdoor thermal comfort and air quality in an urban street canyon, considering factors such as temperature, air pollutants, and their synergistic relationships. The results showed that O3 concentration had a stronger correlation with thermal comfort compared to other pollutants, and PM2.5 concentrations had the best correlation with thermal comfort at the pedestrian level. This study provides valuable insights for improving outdoor air quality and thermal comfort in urban environments.

Comparison of indoor air quality and thermal comfort standards and variations in exceedance for school buildings

Francesco Babich et al.

Summary: Addressing IAQ and thermal comfort issues in school buildings is challenging due to the vulnerability of primary occupants, inadequate building designs, and lack of control over IEQ. The complexity and vulnerability of decision-making processes were highlighted by the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Evaluating different standards and proposing improvements is crucial.

Characteristics of the thermal environment, air quality, and passenger comfort in the underground transfer space of metro stations in Beijing

Chunxiang Lin et al.

Summary: With the expansion of Beijing's metro system and the increasing number of passengers, it is important to study the indoor environment and passenger comfort in metro stations. This study measured the thermal environment and air quality in the transfer spaces of the top seven transfer stations with the highest passenger flow in Beijing. The results showed that the thermal environment and air quality experienced by passengers changed dynamically during the transfer process, and passengers' subjective feelings of comfort were influenced by psychological factors.
