Near and vacuum UV polarization spectroscopy of 1,4-distyrylbenzene

Duy Duc Nguyen et al.

Summary: The UV absorbance bands of 1,4-distyrylbenzene (DSB) were investigated using Synchrotron Radiation Linear Dichroism (SRLD) spectroscopy with stretched polyethylene as an anisotropic solvent. The observed polarization data provided information on the transition moment directions. The study revealed four main band systems in the vacuum UV region.

Low-lying excited states of Diphenylpolyenes and its derivatives in singlet fission: A Density Matrix Renormalization Group study

Naomi Karmakar et al.

Summary: Singlet fission is a promising mechanism to increase the power conversion efficiency of solar cells. α,ω-Diphenylpolyenes have attracted research attention due to their fascinating optical and photophysical properties. Calculations show that 1,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene (DPH), 1,8-diphenyl-1,3,5,7-octatetraene (DPO), 1,10-diphenyl-1,3,5,7-decapentaene (DPD) and their derivatives are promising candidates for singlet fission.

DFT and TD-DFT computational investigations of diphenyl polyene derivatives for optoelectronic application

Teodora Knezevic et al.

Summary: In this study, seven DPPE derivatives were designed and studied for their application in BHJ solar cells. The electronic and geometric properties of these derivatives were investigated using density functional theory. Comparative analysis of absorption properties using B3LYP and CAM-B3LYP methods showed that DPPE7 derivative, which contains electron-withdrawing groups at the acceptor unit, exhibited the most favorable photoelectronic properties with the lowest band gap.
