Single-particle states and parity doublets in odd-Z 221Ac and 225Pa from α-decay spectroscopy

Summary: This study investigates the low-lying states of Ac-221 and Pa-225 using alpha-particle and alpha gamma-coincidence spectroscopy. The results suggest that both nuclei have a ground-state spin and parity of I-pi = 5/2(-), with reflection-asymmetric deformation.

The lack of excited states information for some nuclides, such as Pb-219 and Bi-219, highlights a general lack of knowledge about their half-lives and decay characteristics. High-spin data are mainly available for Ra-219, Ac-219, and Th-219 from in-beam gamma-ray studies, but evaluators find significant differences in relative photon branchings between different studies.
