Fabrication and DC-Bias Manipulation Frequency Characteristics of AlN-Based Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducer

Tao Li et al.

Summary: Piezoelectric micromechanical ultrasonic transducers (PMUTs) are widely used in specific systems due to their efficient generation and sensing of ultrasound signals at the microscale. The idea of manipulating PMUTs by voltage has led to the fabrication of PMUTs with adjustable parameters. In this study, PMUTs based on AlN thin films were fabricated and their resonant frequency and bandwidth could be modified by applying a DC bias voltage, which could expand their frequency range for receiving ultrasonic signals, enabling applications in underwater three-dimensional imaging and nondestructive testing.

Highly Integrated Wideband Transmit/Receive Module for X-Band SAR Applications

Francesco de Paulis et al.

Summary: The roadmaps for SAR systems call for continuous improvement in the active antenna's operating bandwidth, scanning angle capability, and swath width. This requires increased RF power and better power efficiency in the RF transmitter. Additionally, there is a need for compact size and light weight. The proposed TRM design meets these requirements and demonstrates superior performance, making it suitable for developing high-power and integrated AESAs for next-generation satellite constellations.

Fluid compressional properties sensing at microscale using a longitudinal bulk acoustic wave transducer operated in a pulse-echo scheme

Jesus Yanez et al.

Summary: This study presents a longitudinal acoustic wave device for studying the compressional properties of liquids in microfluidic systems. The device operates in pulse-echo mode and demonstrates a direct relationship between acoustic waves and the compressional properties of liquids. It offers an alternative to current film acoustic resonators, overcoming their limitations.
