Cognitive Instrumentalism about Mental Representations

Samuel D. Taylor

Summary: This article introduces a novel way of thinking about mental representations based on cognitive instrumentalism, which suggests that our acceptance of theories positing mental representations does not rely on the naturalization of content. Therefore, if we endorse cognitive instrumentalism regarding mental representations, the dispute between representationalists and anti-representationalists can be resolved.

Multiscale modeling of cortical gradients: The role of mesoscale circuits for linking macro- and microscale gradients of cortical organization and hierarchical information processing

Philipp Haueis

Summary: Recent multimodal studies have revealed gradients in the cortical organization of the brain, impacting abstraction and information processing. These studies highlight the importance of considering cortical gradients in understanding hierarchical information processing.
