Landscape of polymer quantum cosmology

Lautaro Amadei et al.

Summary: In this paper, we study the quantization ambiguities in loop quantum cosmology and discover that they can lead to discretionary dynamical behavior. There is an infinite dimensional space of ambiguities, analogous to the infinite list of higher curvature corrections in perturbative quantum gravity. However, there are also a set of qualitative consequences that are independent of these ambiguities, such as well-defined fundamental dynamics across the big bang and additional microscopic quantum degrees of freedom. We find that, besides the well-known bouncing solutions, there are other generic types of solutions where the scale factor goes through zero and the spacetime orientation is inverted for sufficiently soft initial conditions in the matter sector (tunneling solutions). We also show that, generically, a contracting semiclassical universe branches off at the big bang into a quantum superposition of universes with different quantum numbers. These models, despite their lack of quantitative predictive power, provide a fertile ground for discussing qualitative and conceptual issues in quantum gravity.

Close relationship between the dressed metric and the hybrid approach to perturbations in effective loop quantum cosmology

Bao-Fei Li et al.

Summary: The dressed metric and the hybrid approaches are two main methods to capture the effects of quantum geometry. Although they may differ in the Planck regime, they produce very similar predictions at the classical and effective spacetime levels for linear perturbations.

Cosmological implications of generalized holonomy corrections

Cyril Renevey et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of generalized corrections in loop quantum cosmology, finding that a long enough inflation phase can be generated by purely quantum geometrical effects, but also highlighting the limitations of this scenario. Additionally, the effects of generalized holonomy corrections on an inflationary phase generated by a massive scalar field are studied, and the consequences on the primordial scalar power spectrum are examined in detail. These results are actually quite general and can be applied beyond the loop framework.

Curvature bounce in general relativity: background and primordial spectrum

Cyril Renevey et al.

Summary: Recent data suggests that the Universe could have a positively curved geometry, potentially leading to a curvature bounce instead of the traditional Big Bang scenario when combined with an inflationary stage. The paper presents the background evolution as a function of cosmic evolution-controlling parameters, calculates the primordial tensor spectrum, and highlights possible observational footprints of the model. Various potentials are considered and general remarks are made about naturalness in this context.

A short review of loop quantum gravity

Abhay Ashtekar et al.

Summary: Loop quantum gravity (LQG) is a leading approach in the search for physics beyond Einstein, aiming to unify general relativity and quantum physics. This theory emphasizes that gravity is a manifestation of spacetime geometry and focuses on its implications in extreme environments, such as near the big bang and inside black holes.
