Recent advancement in sensitive detection of carcinoembryonic antigen using nanomaterials based immunosensors

Bazilah Awang Abd Manaf et al.

Summary: Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is a prominent cancer biomarker that allows for early diagnosis of various cancers. Nanomaterial-based immunosensors have gained attention for their high specificity and low detection limit in detecting CEA biomarkers. Various nanomaterials like platinum, gold, silver, and carbon have shown promising results in the detection and diagnostics of CEA. This review explores the significance and recent developments of nanomaterial-based biosensors for detecting CEA biomarkers with high sensitivity, selectivity, and specificity.

Hypersensitive detection of IL-6 on SERS substrate calibrated by dual model

Ting Zhou et al.

Summary: A two-dimensional surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrate was successfully prepared for trace detection of Interleukin-6 (IL-6) in plasma, by capturing glycoproteins in serum and using nanoprobes modified with IL-6 antibody. The method can achieve quantitative detection of IL-6 with a detection limit of 5 pg/mL and an applicable range of 0.5-50000 pg/mL.

Multiplexing Liquid Biopsy with Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering Spectroscopy

Sara Abalde-Cela et al.

Summary: The main challenges in cancer research include early detection, metastatic pathways, and biomarker discovery. The field of liquid biopsy has grown tremendously due to its non-invasive nature in obtaining and studying tumor material. However, standard technologies for biomarker analysis are limited in terms of sensitivity, selectivity, multiplexing, high-throughput, and speed, while surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy is seen as a technology that can overcome these limitations.
