Polyaniline-supported tungsten-catalyzed oxidative deoximation reaction with high catalyst turnover number

Wen Li et al.

Summary: Polyaniline-supported tungsten (W@PANI) is an efficient catalyst for the oxidative deoximation reaction, which is crucial in the pharmaceutical industry. The method utilizes a minimal amount of catalytic tungsten (0.048 mol% vs. oxime substrates), resulting in high turnover numbers (TONs) of the catalyst (ca. 10(3) mol/mol) and low metal residues in the product (<0.1 ppm). It is applicable for various substrates, including heterocycles, and has been successfully scaled up for kilogram production.

Polyaniline-supported nano metal-catalyzed coupling reactions: Opportunities and challenges

Zhigang Zeng et al.

Summary: Polyanilines (PANIs) are easily prepared from anilines via oxidative polymerization reactions and widely used as supports for nano metal catalysts due to their coordination with metals. Compared to inorganic supports, the nano metals on PANIs are firmly anchored, preventing loss during reactions. Additionally, the chemical features of PANIs can be adjusted, providing tunable catalytic activities. This review aims to summarize recent advances and provide a perspective on PANIs-supported nano metal catalysts.

Light-Induced Agglomeration of Single-Atom Platinum in Photocatalysis

Nikita Denisov et al.

Summary: This paper describes the photoinduced destabilization of Pt single atoms (SAs) on the surface of titanium dioxide (TiO2), a benchmark photocatalyst. The SAs agglomerate into clusters and nanoparticles under illumination in aqueous solutions. The kinetics of this process depend on the presence of sacrificial hole scavengers and the intensity of light used. Despite the aggregation and reduction of the SAs, the overall photocatalytic hydrogen evolution remains largely unaffected.

Remarkably and stable catalytic activity in reduction of 4-nitrophenol by sodium sesquicarbonate-supporting Fe2O3@Pt

Xia Xu et al.

Summary: Reasonable design of bimetallic nanomaterials with support is beneficial to improve catalytic performance. This work reports a new kind of sodium sesquicarbonate-supporting Fe2O3@Pt via etching Fe3O4@Pt@SiO2, which exhibits highly efficient and stable catalytic reduction performance towards 4-NP. The introduction of non-metallic Fe can not only reduce the consumption of precious metal Pt, but also improve the catalytic efficiency due to the synergistic effect. This study opens up a new avenue to develop robust catalysts for heterogeneous catalytic reactions.

Synergistic effect of polyaniline on stabilizing Pt nanoparticles in PEMFCs

Chenzhao Li et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the stability of Pt nanoparticles on a carbon support, which is crucial for the lifespan of fuel cells and electrocatalysis systems. The covalently grafted polyaniline on carbon is shown to stabilize Pt nanoparticles by alleviating particle migration and mitigating Ostwald ripening, resulting in increased redox potential and resistance to oxidation of the Pt nanoparticles.

Effects of catalytic ozonation catalyzed by TiO2 activated carbon and biochar on dissolved organic matter removal and disinfection by-product formations investigated by Orbitrap mass spectrometry

Nutdanai Dabuth et al.

Summary: This study investigates the applicability of different types of activated carbon and biochar coated by titanium dioxide as catalysts for catalytic ozonation. The results show that catalytic ozonation can effectively remove dissolved organic matter and minimize the formation of unknown disinfection by-products. Coating the catalysts with titanium dioxide enhances the removal of more oxidized and saturated compounds.
