Low-Angle-Dependent Anticounterfeiting Label Decoded by Alcohol Tissue Wiping Based on a Multilayer Photonic Crystal Structure

Suli Wu et al.

Summary: In this work, a composite PC structure is designed for anticounterfeiting purposes, which can be decoded by an alcohol tissue and shows a vivid low-angle-dependent structural color. To enhance the anticounterfeiting ability, a double-sided label with different encryption patterns is also designed.

Monodisperse colloidal spheres with a high refractive index: their synthesis, assembly and application in structural colored materials

Tongling Yu et al.

Summary: Photonic crystals are considered attractive functional optical materials due to their ability to tune the luminescence of light emitters and produce metallic and fadeless structural colors. Monodisperse colloidal spheres with a high refractive index have shown potential as ideal building blocks for photonic crystals with stronger bandgaps and brilliant structural colors. Recent progress has been made in the design and controllable preparation of these spheres, leading to further exploration of their unique optical properties and applications. Challenges and improvements in this field are also highlighted for future research.
