Key parameters defining disease-related events, such as complete remission (CR), treatment failure (TF), and relapse, have significant heterogeneity in their definitions. A consensus definition was established by representatives of major international ALL clinical trial groups, which includes specific criteria for CR, TF, and relapse. These consensus definitions will improve the comparability of outcomes in pediatric ALL trials and promote the development of international collaborative trials.

Incidence and risk factors for oral mucositis in pediatric patients receiving chemotherapy

It found that chemotherapy protocols using high-dose methotrexate, methotrexate combined with cyclophosphamide/doxorubicin, and methotrexate combined with cyclophosphamide have a higher incidence of severe grades of oral mucositis. Patients with severe oral mucositis also exhibited lower levels of leukocytes, hemoglobin, platelets, and higher levels of total bilirubin, alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and creatinine.

Symptom clusters in 1330 survivors of 7 cancer types from the PROFILES registry: A network analysis

Summary: Background research into the clustering of symptoms can improve the understanding of the underlying mechanisms affecting survivors' symptom burden. This study used network analyses to explore symptom clustering and found fatigue to be consistently the most central symptom across all cancer types, treatment regimens, and short-term and long-term survivors. While longitudinal data are needed to establish the causal nature of these symptoms, focusing on fatigue in cancer survivorship rehabilitation programs could help reduce overall symptom burden.
