Cell-derived extracellular matrix enhanced by collagen-binding domain-decorated exosomes to promote neural stem cells neurogenesis

Yuanxin Zhai et al.

Summary: This study constructed an exosomes-functionalized ECM (CBD-Exo/ECM) carrier by utilizing collagen binding domain peptide-modified exosomes (CBD-Exo) to interact with the extracellular matrix (ECM) for neural stem cells (NSCs) culture. The results demonstrated that CBD-Exo/ECM could promote neurogenesis of NSCs.

Targeting type I collagen for cancer treatment

Run Shi et al.

Summary: Collagen, the most abundant protein in animals, plays a crucial role in tumor development. Specifically, type I collagen, which is upregulated during tumorigenesis, promotes tumor cell proliferation, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, metastasis, and affects the efficacy of tumor therapies. However, the roles of type I collagen in tumor biology are complex and depend on the tumor type. This review discusses the expression and regulation of type I collagen synthesis, its role in cancer progression, and recent approaches targeting type I collagen for cancer treatment.

A SIRPαFc Fusion Protein Conjugated With the Collagen-Binding Domain for Targeted Immunotherapy of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Jiayang Liu et al.

Summary: The study aims to improve the tumor targeting and enhance the antitumor immune response of SIRP alpha Fc fusion protein through synthesizing a TKKTLRT-SIRP alpha Fc conjugate. The experiments demonstrate that the conjugate has a collagen-binding ability without affecting its CD47-binding affinity. In vivo distribution experiments show that the CBD-SIRP alpha Fc conjugate accumulates more effectively in tumor tissue compared to unmodified SIRP alpha Fc, leading to enhanced antitumor efficacy.

Collagen Binding Proteins of Gram-Positive Pathogens

Srishtee Arora et al.

Summary: Collagens are the primary structural components of mammalian extracellular matrices, regulating tissue development, regeneration, and host defense. There are 28 genetically distinct collagens in humans, along with other unrelated human proteins containing a collagen domain. Gram-positive bacteria express cell surface proteins that bind to collagen and can be classified into different structural families.

Lumican in Carcinogenesis-Revisited

Eirini-Maria Giatagana et al.

Summary: Lumican, a proteoglycan involved in the formation of the extracellular matrix, plays an important role in cellular processes associated with tumorigenesis and tumor progression. It has been reported to have either a positive or negative correlation with tumor progression in various cancer tissues. There is potential for lumican to serve as a cancer prognosis marker, chemoresistance regulator, and cancer therapy target.
