Weakly Supervised Segmentation of COVID19 Infection with Scribble Annotation on CT Images

Xiaoming Liu et al.

Summary: This paper proposed a novel weakly supervised segmentation method for COVID-19 infections in CT slices, which only requires scribble supervision and is enhanced with the uncertainty-aware self-ensembling and transformation consistent techniques. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is more effective than other weakly supervised methods and achieves similar performance as those fully supervised.

COVID-rate: an automated framework for segmentation of COVID-19 lesions from chest CT images

Nastaran Enshaei et al.

Summary: This study introduces an open-access COVID-19 CT segmentation dataset and a Deep Neural Network-based autonomous segmentation framework called COVID-Rate. The performance of the COVID-Rate framework is evaluated through several experiments and an unsupervised enhancement approach is introduced to improve the model's generalization.

Label-Free Segmentation of COVID-19 Lesions in Lung CT

Qingsong Yao et al.

Summary: The study introduces a label-free approach for segmenting COVID-19 lesions in CT via voxel-level anomaly modeling, reducing the burden of data annotation. By learning patterns of normal tissues, a network capable of distinguishing normal tissues from COVID-19 lesions was established.

RCTE: A reliable and consistent temporal-ensembling framework for semi-supervised segmentation of COVID-19 lesions

Weiping Ding et al.

Summary: This study presents a reliable and consistent temporal-ensembling (RCTE) framework for semi-supervised lesion segmentation, integrating a segmentation network into a teacher-student architecture to segment infection regions. It introduces a reliable teacher-student architecture to address noisy annotations and improves segmentation performance through a noise-aware loss. Comprehensive analysis validates the robustness of RCTE with a 65.87% Dice score over recent cutting-edge semi-supervised segmentation techniques.

Medical image inpainting with edge and structure priors

Qianna Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a medical image inpainting model based on edge and structure information (ESMII) is proposed, utilizing multi-scale residual blocks to extract features and introducing multi-level loss to generate more reasonable structure repair and fine textures. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the model in repairing medical images.

Anam-Net: Anamorphic Depth Embedding-Based Lightweight CNN for Segmentation of Anomalies in COVID-19 Chest CT Images

Naveen Paluru et al.

Summary: Anam-Net, a lightweight CNN for segmenting anomalies in COVID-19 chest CT images, with 7.8 times fewer parameters compared to UNet, is capable of providing inferences in mobile or resource-constrained platforms. Experimental results show that the method can provide good Dice similarity scores for abnormal and normal regions in the lung in different test cases.
