Reduction of NOx by H2 on WOx-Promoted Pt/Al2O3/SiO2 Catalysts Under O2-Rich Conditions

Enno Esser et al.

Summary: This study investigates NOX reduction by H-2 under O-2-rich conditions using Al2O3/SiO2-supported Pt catalysts with different loads of WOx promotor. The results show that smaller Pt particles are more efficient, while the introduction of WOx increases deNOX activity and N-2 selectivity. The promoting effect is attributed to an additional reaction path at the Pt-Wo(x)/Al2O3/SiO2 interface.

Elucidating the origin of selective dehydrogenation of propane on γ-alumina under H2S treatment and co-feed

Lohit Sharma et al.

Summary: A bulk gamma-Al2O3 catalyst demonstrated high selectivity for propane dehydrogenation after pretreatment and co-feeding with H2S. It was found that H2S irreversibly modified the active sites of the catalyst, leading to increased activity and selectivity towards propylene. Additionally, the formation of sulfurous coke and strong adsorption of reaction products resulted in a less active catalyst.

Experimental and Theoretical Study of Porous Al2O3

Sara Sadat Parhizgar et al.

Summary: The study investigates the structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of porous alumina using theoretical results and experimental measurements. It is found that porous alumina has a lower band gap compared to nonporous alumina, and DFT simulation confirms the existence of ferromagnetic properties in porous samples.

Single site Fe on the (110) surface of γ-Al2O3: insights from a DFT study including the periodic boundary approach

Jiande Gu et al.

Summary: The study found three different types of Fe single atom sites on the (110) surface of gamma-alumina, with the tri-coordinated Fe-I position being the most stable. The replacement of Al by Fe results in charge redistributions of neighboring O atoms, and p orbitals of the oxygen atoms on the surface phase contribute significantly to the LUMO in the tri-coordinated Fe-I substitution. This activation of oxygen suggests the presence of an important source of reactive oxygen during Fe catalytic oxidation of CO processes.
