Direct Oral Anticoagulation Versus Warfarin in Left Ventricular Thrombus: Pooled Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

Anders Olof Sahlen et al.

Summary: Patients with impaired left ventricular function could develop left ventricular thrombus which increases the risk of stroke and embolization. The use of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) appears to be a promising alternative to conventional treatment with vitamin K antagonists (VKAs). This pooled analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) showed that DOACs were more effective and safer than VKAs in terms of resolving the thrombus, reducing stroke and bleeding events, and adverse events.

Multiple Biventricular Thrombi Associated With Methamphetamine-Associated Cardiomyopathy

Syeda H. Zaidi et al.

Summary: With the increasing use of methamphetamine globally, there has been a rise in cardiovascular mortality. This case report highlights the association between methamphetamine-associated cardiomyopathy and biventricular thrombi, suggesting that the increased thrombogenicity in methamphetamine users could be a contributing factor.
