A Novel Method Based on Deep Learning, GIS and Geomatics Software for Building a 3D City Model from VHR Satellite Stereo Imagery

Summary: The paper aims to construct a 3D city model from stereo satellite imagery by utilizing pan-sharpening techniques and deep-learning methods for building footprint identification, ultimately extracting building height within a GIS environment. The developed method showed improved color image quality with the Gram-Schmidt method, and achieved high accuracy in automatic building recognition through deep-learning techniques. The algorithm built in the GIS environment allowed for fast and precise construction of a 3D city model representing buildings as prismatic solids with flat roofs.
