Two-scale solution for tripped turbulent boundary layer

C. Chen et al.

Summary: Recent research on near-wall turbulence has shown that the behavior of large-scale structures depends on the Reynolds number, leading to the need for a new modeling approach. A two-scale framework has been proposed to couple local and global solutions, reducing the mesh-count scaling with Reynolds number. This study extends the two-scale method to turbulent boundary layers, demonstrating its effectiveness in capturing the impact of large-scale disturbances and achieving good agreement with experimental and simulation results.

Two-scale conjugate heat transfer solution for micro-structured surface

L. He

Summary: This study proposes a two-scale framework to address the challenges of simulating turbulent flow over a micro-structured surface. A dual meshing method is used to couple different scale domains and enhance the convergence and robustness of the solution. The time-scale disparity is dealt with using a frequency domain approach. Experimental validation demonstrates the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed framework and implementation methods.

Newton's Law of Cooling: Follow up and exploration

Shigenao Maruyama et al.

Summary: The paper investigates Isaac Newton's Latin paper on thermal science, particularly focusing on Newton's Law of Cooling and temperature measurements. Experimental results were conducted to reproduce the original findings, especially in high-temperature regions, and the study also addressed the impact of natural convection on cooling processes. The reason behind Newton's publication of an anonymous paper on temperature measurement above the boiling point of water was also explored.

Scalable Heat Transfer Characterization on Film Cooled Geometries Based on Discrete Green's Functions

Jorge Saavedra et al.

Summary: This paper presents an alternative engine-scalable approach based on Discrete Green's Functions to evaluate convective heat flux along film-cooled geometries. The method allows heat flux measurements to be scaled to any conditions as long as Reynolds number, Mach number, and temperature ratios are maintained.
