Residents' Insights on Their Local Food Environment and Dietary Behaviors: A Cross-City Comparison Using Photovoice in Spain

Summary: Despite sharing similar cultural and socioeconomic contexts, perceptions of local food environments and participatory research abilities may vary among participants in Madrid and Bilbao, Spain. Common themes emerged in both cities' narratives about local food environments, but citizens in Bilbao perceived sufficient availability of healthy foods compared to those living in impoverished communities. Photovoice proved to be a useful tool for engaging citizens in improving their local food environments in both cities, allowing for a cross-city comparison to better understand residents' diverse perceptions.

An Ecological Perspective of Food Choice and Eating Autonomy Among Adolescents

Summary: Adolescence is a crucial developmental period where teenagers transition from parental-controlled eating to self-directed and peer-influenced eating, gaining autonomy over food choices. This qualitative study identified six main influences on adolescents' food choices, as well as additional factors with prominence in specific environmental contexts. The degree of control over their food choices varied among teenagers based on location, occasion, and social context.
