Hierarchically porous Co-and N-doped carbon nanotubes are designed as highly efficient electrocatalysts for both oxygen and tri-iodide reduction reactions via a dual-template synthesis approach. Bimetallic Zn/Co-based-zeolitic imidazolate frameworks coated on tellurium nanotubes are pyrolyzed, generating a structure with high surface area, hierarchical pore structure, abundant Co-Nx active sites, and a 1D tubular graphitic carbon framework.
