Hybrids MIL-53/GO and MIL-101/GO were synthesized and were applied for the drug delivery. The adsorption for IBU (ibuprofen) on MOFs/GO and MOFs were compared and it was found that the addition of GO enhanced IBU loading and stability. The drug release experiments of IBU loaded MOFs and MOFs/GO were conducted, and it was found that drug release of MOFs/GO was slower, which can be explained for the hydrogen bonding between GO and IBU. It also exposed that the IBU loading of MIL-101 (Cr) and MIL-101/GO were both larger than that of MIL-53 (Fe) and MIL-53/GO, meaning that metal ions had an effect on the pore size which will effect on the selectivity on the adsorption for different drug molecules. Drug carrier can be designed according to different size drug molecules through the formation of MOFs/GO with optimal metal ions.
