Noninvasive electrocardiographic imaging-guided targeting of drivers of persistent atrial fibrillation: The TARGET-AF1 trial

Shohreh Honarbakhsh et al.

Summary: This study used ECGI mapping to guide localized driver ablation in patients with persistent AF. The results showed high freedom from AF during follow-up and an ablation response in a large proportion of patients. The type and characteristics of the drivers may facilitate a hierarchical ablation approach.

A governing equation for rotor and wavelet number in human clinical ventricular fibrillation: Implications for sudden cardiac death

Dhani Dharmaprani et al.

Summary: In this study, a single equation derived from a Markov M/M/8 birth-death process successfully predicted the number of rotors and wavelets occurring in human VF. The study also showed differences between self-terminating VF episodes and VF episodes requiring termination, and found that rotors with longer durations had shorter interactivation time intervals.

Left and right atrial appendage functional features as predictors for voltage-defined left atrial remodelling in patients with long-standing persistent atrial fibrillation

Summary: The study found that LVA is common among LSPAF patients, with LAA AFCL being an important predictor of its severity and distribution. Functional assessment of LAA and RAA can predict the stage and regional distribution of LA fibrosis.
