Energy savings strategy for the residential sector in Libya and its impacts on the global environment and the nation economy

Mohammad Abdunnabi et al.

Summary: The energy consumption of Libyan common houses is estimated using simulation and other tools, aiming to achieve energy conservation by changing occupants' behaviors. Official data, measurements, and a survey are used to gather relevant information. The energy audit reveals that the total energy consumption is about 16,500 kWh/year, with electrical appliances accounting for 36%, interior lighting for 24%, water heating for 15%, and cooling/heating for 13%. The estimated specific energy consumption per floor area is 238.7 kWh/m^2. Implementing the proposed strategic plan can save over 6650 TWh of electrical energy, reduce CO2 emissions by 6.54 million tonnes per year, save 1.935 million tons of diesel fuel, and save $333.54 million as social cost of CO2.

A meta-analysis of residential PV adoption: the important role of perceived benefits, intentions and antecedents in solar energy acceptance

Emily Schulte et al.

Summary: The study utilized meta-analytical structural equation modeling to analyze residential PV adoption intention, finding medium to large correlations between environmental concern, novelty seeking, perceived benefits, and subjective norm with the intention to adopt a PV system. Results suggest measures should primarily focus on enhancing the perception of benefits.

Determinants of Rooftop Solar PV adoption among urban households in Ghana

Nathan Tetteh et al.

Summary: This study examined the determinants of Grid-Connected Solar PV system adoption among urban households in Ghana and found six statistically significant variables that influence household adoption behavior. The results suggest that these determinants vary in associated probabilities and call for prioritizing diverse socio-economic attributes in models to accelerate adoption. Further research is needed to improve evidence quality for policy and model (re)development in developing economies.

Gap between words and actions: Empirical study on consistency of residents supporting renewable energy development in China

Xingming Fang et al.

Summary: This study empirically explores the factors influencing the consistency between the willingness and behavior of Chinese residents in supporting renewable energy development. It finds that subjective factors have the most significant influence, with rural residents being more influenced by income, education, and energy supply satisfaction, while urban residents are more affected by environmental concern and carbon emission knowledge. These findings have important policy implications for guiding residents willing to support renewable energy to take real actions in their life.

Residential solar photovoltaic adoption behaviour: End-to-end review of theories, methods and approaches

M. Alipour et al.

Summary: This study systematically reviews various theories, methods, and approaches used in the adoption of residential rooftop solar photovoltaic systems by households. It reveals a wide range of quantitative and qualitative studies using statistical and non-statistical techniques, as well as behavioral theories to understand and predict household adoption decisions. The review also examines predictive methods such as regression analysis and agent-based models to analyze the diffusion rate of solar technologies.
