Improvements of the modulation bandwidth and data rate of green-emitting CsPbBr3 perovskite quantum dots for Gbps visible light communication

Xinyi Shan et al.

Summary: CsPbBr3 perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) have promising potential for color conversion in display and visible light communication (VLC), but most CsPbBr3 PQDs used for VLC are randomly selected without optimization. Therefore, studying the fundamental experimental parameters of PQDs is crucial for maximizing their performance advantages.

Multigigabit Visible Light Communication Based on High-Bandwidth InGaN Quantum Dot Green Micro-LED

Zixian Wei et al.

Summary: Long-wavelength LED devices and high-speed visible light communication have been extensively studied recently. The limited bandwidth of conventional long-wavelength LEDs has been a fundamental problem in high-speed VLC systems. This study presents a breakthrough in the modulation bandwidth bottleneck of VLC systems by using green InGaN quantum dots as the active region of micro-LEDs, achieving high-speed communication.

Ultrastable Perovskite Nanocrystals in All-Inorganic Transparent Matrix for High-Speed Underwater Wireless Optical Communication

Mengling Xia et al.

Summary: The key features of lead halide perovskites, including short emission lifetime and excellent luminous efficiency in the green emission region, are well-suited for underwater wireless optical communication (UWOC). However, the poor stability of perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) restricts its application underwater. This study reports extremely stable CsPbBr3 NCs in an all-inorganic amorphous glass matrix, showing high photoluminescence quantum yield and excellent stability towards water, thermal treatment, and intensive laser irradiation. The refraction index can strongly influence the lifetime values of radiative transitions in the perovskite NCs, and the large refraction index of the glass matrix enhances their radiative transition rates. Finally, the first application of perovskite NCs for UWOC shows promising results with high bandwidth and data rates.

Ultraefficient Forster-Type Nonradiative Energy Transfer Enabled by the Complex Dielectric Medium with Tuned Permittivity

Pedro Ludwig Hernandez-Martinez et al.

Summary: The Forster-type nonradiative energy transfer (FRET) mechanism was systematically studied by tuning the background medium's permittivity to enhance efficiency and extend the range of FRET. Analytically analyzing the FRET rates of point-like and other nanostructures with respect to the medium's permittivity revealed a singularity in FRET rates when the permittivity approaches zero. Realistic values of the medium's permittivity near the singularity point can lead to achieving ultrahigh FRET rates and ultraefficient FRET-based systems through a digital metamaterial approach.
