Electrochemical sensing of antibiotic drug amoxicillin in the presence of dopamine at simple and selective carbon paste electrode activated with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide surfactant

N. Hareesha et al.

Summary: In this research, an effective and selective cetyltrimethylammonium bromide drop-casted carbon paste electrode was constructed for the detection of amoxicillin in the presence of dopamine. The modified sensor showed high stability, repeatability, reproducibility, and sensitivity for the oxidation of amoxicillin in phosphate buffer saline. The method and modified sensor provided a fine recovery for amoxicillin detection in medication samples.

Multiplex Detection of Antibiotic Residues in Milk: Application of MCR-ALS on Excitation-Emission Matrix Fluorescence (EEMF) Data Sets

Mahsa N. Sheikholeslami et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel synergistic bimetallic nanocluster with gold and silver was developed as an emission fluorescence probe for the simultaneous determination of antibiotics in milk and dairy products. The multivariate curve resolution-alternating least squares (NICR- ALS) method was utilized to analyze the data and quantify the multicomponent systems in the presence of interferences with considerable spectral overlap. The results showed that the EEMF/MCR-ALS methodology using an emission fluorescence probe is a powerful tool for the simultaneous quantification of antibiotics in complex matrices with highly overlapped spectra.

Silver Nanoparticles-Based SERS Platform towards Detecting Chloramphenicol and Amoxicillin: An Experimental Insight into the Role of HOMO-LUMO Energy Levels of the Analyte in the SERS Signal and Charge Transfer Process

Quan Doan Mai et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of energy levels and alignments of molecular orbitals on the charge transfer process and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) phenomenon. Experimental results show that the detection of antibiotics on electrochemically synthesized colloidal silver nanoparticles (e-AgNPs) as substrates differs due to the different energy levels of the antibiotics. The hypothesis is confirmed by testing other organic compounds. The study reveals a clear correlation between the energy level of analytes and their SERS signals.
