Triphenylamine-based COFs composite membrane fabricated through oligomer-triggered interfacial polymerization

Summary: In this study, a triphenylamine-based COFs composite membrane was fabricated using an oligomer-triggered interfacial polymerization (OT-IP) process on a hydrolyzed polyacrylonitrile (HPAN) substrate. The results showed that the OT-IP approach is applicable for the fabrication of COFs composite membranes constructed by poorly water-soluble aromatic amine monomers.

The quaternary COF showed high uranium uptake capacity and good anti-biofouling abilities, opening the pathway for economic and efficient extraction of uranium from the oceans.

Summary: Researchers have successfully synthesized crystalline covalent organic framework (COF) nanoplates with uniform distribution. These nanoplates were used to create smooth, homogeneous, and tunable COF nanofilms by spin coating and applied in photoelectrochemical solar-to-hydrogen conversion. By designing the photoelectrode structure, charge recombination in COFs was reduced, leading to high photocurrent density and efficient photoelectric conversion. This study provides experimental basis for the application of large-scale COF nanofilms and heterojunction architectures in solar energy conversion devices.

Electrocleavage Synthesis of Solution-Processed, Imine-Linked, and Crystalline Covalent Organic Framework Thin Films

Summary: An unprecedented electrocleavage synthesis strategy is reported for the direct synthesis of COF films at room temperature. This strategy involves the cathodic exfoliation of COF powders to nanosheets, followed by nanosheets migrating to the anode and reproducing the COF structures by anodic oxidation. The COF films possess high crystallinity and hierarchical porosity, and have demonstrated rapid iodine adsorption with record-high rate constants, making them an excellent platform for promoting mass transfer.

Summary: A nitrogen and oxygen rich covalent organic framework (COF) based on porphyrin molecules is prepared and shown to have high adsorption capacity for Cd2+. The formation of COF increases the porphyrin ring center space, facilitating the coordination of Cd2+ and enabling ratiometric detection. The COF-based membrane prepared on carbon fiber support shows excellent properties for Cd2+ removal and enrichment, with advantages in handling, stability, reusability, and reduced secondary pollution risk. This work demonstrates the potential of porphyrin-based COFs in Cd2+ removal and enrichment applications.
