An application of the dual identity model and active categorization to increase intercultural closeness

Johanna E. Prasch et al.

Summary: Enhancing social inclusion is crucial for maintaining social cohesion and reaping the benefits of cultural diversity. With insights from the Dual Identity Model and a focus on active categorization, an intervention was developed to increase social inclusion. Through a series of experiments, the efficacy of the intervention was tested against control conditions using perceived social distance as a measure. The results showed an increase in cultural closeness, providing preliminary support for the use of a DIM-based intervention to promote intercultural inclusion.
