The effects of velocity-based versus percentage-based resistance training on athletic performances in sport-collegiate female basketball players

Mingyang Zhang et al.

Summary: This study compared the effects of velocity-based resistance training (VBRT) and percentage-based resistance training (PBRT) on athletic performance in female basketball players. Results showed that VBRT led to significant improvements in various aspects of athletic performance, including vertical jump, squat jump, reactive strength, and jump height, compared to PBRT.

Maturity-Related Variations in Morphology, Body Composition, and Somatotype Features among Young Male Football Players

Denis Causevic et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the differences in anthropometry, body composition, and somatotype in young football players of the same chronological age according to their maturity stage. The results showed that mature players had better body composition, including lower fat percentage and higher muscle mass, as well as advantages in body measurements and somatotype characteristics. Understanding maturity, body composition, and somatotypes can help in the selection of young talented players.

Total Score of Athleticism: Profiling Strength and Power Characteristics in Professional Soccer Players After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction to Assess Readiness to Return to Sport

Luca Maestroni et al.

Summary: This study examined the utility of the Total Score of Athleticism (TSA) as a readiness tool for return-to-sport (RTS) decision-making after ACL reconstruction. The results showed significant differences in TSA scores between the ACL-reconstructed group and uninjured group, and a higher frequency of low TSA scores in players who sustained a second injury after RTS. It is recommended to routinely administer RTS tests encompassing strength, power, and reactive strength qualities each season.

Predictors of Speed and Agility in Youth Male Basketball Players

Denis Causevic et al.

Summary: This study compares the relationship between anthropometric assessment and physical performance of elite youth basketball players of different age groups. The findings suggest that age, body composition, and muscle mass are significant predictors of speed and agility in these players. In addition, body fat percentage has a significant impact on speed and agility tests in all age groups.

Effects of Small-Sided Games Training versus High-Intensity Interval Training Approaches in Young Basketball Players

Ersan Arslan et al.

Summary: This study compared the effects of 6-week small-sided games training (SSGs) and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on young basketball players. The results showed that the SSGs group had better agility-based technical skills, while the HIIT group showed greater improvements in sprint times.

Composite Score of Readiness (CSR) as Holistic Profiling of Functional Deficits in Footballers Following ACL Reconstruction

Lukasz Oleksy et al.

Summary: The study introduced a method called CSR to provide a single score for RTS tests after ACL reconstruction, allowing for easier comparison of functional deficits across different tests. The CSR index highlights an athlete's relative functional deficits compared to the evaluated group, with a stronger correlation to the Y-balance test.
