Monitoring haemodynamic changes during transjugular portosystemic shunt insertion with electric cardiometry in sedated and spontaneous breathing patients. A diagnostic test accuracy study

Yasmin A. Kamel et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the effect of TIPS on systemic and portal hemodynamics, as well as electric cardiometry parameters in sedated and spontaneous breathing patients. The results showed that successful TIPS insertion led to a decrease in portal venous pressure, an increase in central venous pressure, an increase in cardiac output, and a decrease in systemic vascular resistance. The study suggests that electric cardiometry monitoring is promising in assessing the hemodynamic changes associated with TIPS.

Cesarean section one hundred years 1920-2020: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Clarel Antoine et al.

Summary: Cesarean delivery rates have been increasing globally, particularly in the United States. Despite advancements in surgical techniques, the cesarean delivery rate continues to rise, leading to short- and long-term complications for mothers and babies. Attempts to reduce the cesarean delivery rate have been largely unsuccessful, highlighting the need to explore ways to decrease its use while considering safety as a priority.
