Understanding Emotion Regulation Strategies Among Youths: A Qualitative Study

Summary: This study investigates emotion regulation (ER) among youths, exploring the strategies they employ and the perceived importance and impact of ER. Qualitative data was collected through interviews and focus group discussions, and thematic analysis revealed four main ER strategies: developing emotional awareness and acceptance, emotional catharsis, calling for a timeout, and positive thinking and reframing. Youths recognize the importance of regulating emotions for rational thinking and decision-making, mental wellbeing, life stability, and relevance to their current stage and environment. The findings highlight the crucial role of ER for healthy functioning in youth and emphasize the value of strengthening their emotional regulatory capacities.

Feasibility, Perceived Impact, and Acceptability of a Socially Assistive Robot to Support Emotion Regulation With Highly Anxious University Students: Mixed Methods Open Trial

Feasibility and acceptability of experience sampling among LGBTQ plus young people with self-harmful thoughts and behaviours

Suicide, self-harm and suicidal ideation during COVID-19: A systematic review

An In Situ, Child-Led Intervention to Promote Emotion Regulation Competence in Middle Childhood: Protocol for an Exploratory Randomized Controlled Trial
