The role of improved market access for small-scale organic farming transition: Implications for food security

Summary: Better access to markets enables small producers to sell more produce at higher prices and better quality. This study investigates the role of efficient markets for small-scale organic farming and the implications of farmers' market orientation on food security. The findings suggest that market orientation positively influences food security for both organic farming adopters and non-adopters, and market orientation moderates the effect of organic farming on food security, especially for market-oriented farmers.

A feminist economics perspective on the agroecology-food and nutrition security nexus

Through a literature review of empirical studies published between 1996 and 2020, the paper reveals that agroecology has contributed to FNS. The selected papers focus on the influence of agroecology on FNS from both production and reproduction perspectives, with an emphasis on physical reproduction activities. The paper proposes a conceptual framework that highlights the intrinsic connection between agroecology, reproduction activities, and FNS, emphasizing the social and ecological dimensions of agroecology.

Nearshore Dissolved and Particulate Organic Matter Dynamics in the Southwestern Baltic Sea: Environmental Drivers and Time Series Analysis (2010-2020)

Summary: The study on surface water organic carbon and nitrogen concentrations in the southwestern Baltic Sea revealed that mixing of different water bodies and in situ primary production are the main drivers, with a close relationship between organic carbon and nitrogen, chlorophyll a, and phytoplankton carbon. The results emphasize the value of extended samplings to understand the coupled biogeochemical cycling of important carbon reservoirs and to detect trends.
