Surface engineering of zinc oxide thin as an electron transport layer for perovskite solar cells

Klegayere Emmanuel Kone et al.

Summary: This study investigates the spin coating technique for depositing zinc oxide (ZnO) and explores its advantages such as ease of implementation. ZnO is a semiconductor with a direct optical bandgap of 3.3 eV, 80% optical transparency, UV-Vis anti-reflection properties, and high electrical conductivity. The number of spin coatings was varied to obtain different ZnO thicknesses, which were characterized using X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and SEM. The best sample with four cycles (ZnO-4) was used to form a heterojunction with mixed halide methylammonium lead (MAPbBr(2)I), resulting in a bandgap of 1.9 eV. Simulation of the resulting solar cell yielded Jsc, Voc, and eta values of 16.938095 mA/cm(2), 2 V, and 33.88%, respectively.

Insight of ZnO/CuO and ZnO/Cu2O solar cells efficiency with SCAPS simulator

Klegayere Emmanuel Kone et al.

Summary: Despite the low power conversion efficiency, n-ZnO/p-CuO and n-ZnO/p-Cu2O solar cells contribute to the development of photovoltaic energy. In this work, the simulator software SCAPS-1D was used to optimize the parameters of these cells, resulting in short-circuit currents and efficiencies of 27.7755 mA.cm(-2), 31.40%, and 12.9790 mA.cm(-2), 13.34% for n-ZnO/p-CuO and n-ZnO/p-Cu2O solar cells, respectively. The research reveals that the n-ZnO/p-CuO solar cell is more efficient and suitable for converting solar energy into electricity.

In vitro activity of selected natural products against Eimeria tenella sporozoites using reproduction inhibition assay

Ahmed Thabet et al.

Summary: Eimeria tenella is the causative agent of cecal coccidiosis in poultry, and herbal candidates such as nutmeg oil, cinnamon oil, and glabridin have been studied for their potential anticoccidial activity. In vitro tests showed nutmeg oil had moderate inhibitory activity, cinnamon oil had no effect, and glabridin prevented sporozoite replication. Further studies found glabridin induced stress on sporozoites, as evidenced by increased gene expression levels of stress-induced proteins after exposure.

Use of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles as Anticoccidial Agents in Broiler Chickens along with Its Impact on Growth Performance, Antioxidant Status, and Hematobiochemical Profile

Zeynab Khamis El-Maddawy et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) on the pathogenesis of coccidiosis in broiler chickens. The results showed that supplementation with ZnO-NPs reduced mortality rate and improved growth performance in coccidiosis-infected chickens. Additionally, ZnO-NPs decreased oocyst count and intestinal lesion scores, and increased antioxidant activity.

Effect of deposition cycles on the properties of ZnO thin films deposited by spin coating method for CZTS-based solar cells

Amal Bouich et al.

Summary: In this study, ZnO thin films with different thicknesses were prepared using the spin-coating technique. The polycrystalline nature of the films was characterized by XRD analysis. By varying the number of spin coatings, ZnO films with dense and smooth surfaces, good crystallinity, and increasing band gap were obtained. Annealing also played a role in the band gap variation. Simulation using SCAPS-1D software was used to evaluate the effect of film cycles on solar cell performance.

Impact of Radio Frequency Plasma Power on the Structure, Crystallinity, Dislocation Density, and the Energy Band Gap of ZnO Nanostructure

Ahmed F. Abdulrahman et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of radio frequency (RF) plasma power on the morphology, crystal structure, elemental chemical composition, and optical properties of ZnO nanostructures. The increase in RF plasma power enhanced growth rate, surface morphology, and altered nanorod diameter and crystal size. Furthermore, higher plasma powers led to increased XRD intensities, impacting the optical band-gap energy and shifting the absorption band edge to a lower-energy region due to the quantum size effect in the nanorange.
