Perceptions of the crowded sky as assessed through response to aerial infrastructure

Effect of speed on flow and enjoyment for driving and rollercoasters

Summary: Road traffic injuries are the eighth highest cause of death worldwide, and addressing excessive speed through campaigns is a common approach. However, these campaigns often overlook the inherent enjoyment of speed. This study examines whether flow theory can predict the enjoyment of speed in road driving and rollercoaster experiences. The findings show that flow and enjoyment ratings increase with faster speeds in both contexts. Sensation seekers are more likely to experience flow at speeds of 20-35 mph in road driving. Further research is needed to verify this. It is recommended to consider enjoyment and flow in anti-speeding campaigns, and to redesign driving to facilitate flow at slower speeds.

Summary: Paddy ecosystems play a vital role in meeting global food demand and maintaining ecological balance, but they are being replaced and converted in many traditional paddy growing regions due to economic interests. To address this issue, the Government of Kerala enacted a law to protect paddy land and wetlands, and structural break analysis showed that this law effectively conserved paddy land in Kerala.
