Nada M. El-Sheikh et al.

Summary: This study investigated the role of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) Nicotinamide Nucleotide Transhydrogenase-antisense RNA1 (NNT-AS1) in colorectal cancer (CRC) in relation to the Homo sapiens (hsa)-microRNA (miR)-485-5p/ heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) axis. The expression levels of lncRNA NNT-AS1, hsa-miR-485-5p, and HSP90 were examined in the sera of 60 Egyptian CRC patients. The results showed that lncRNA NNT-AS1 and HSP90 were upregulated, while hsa-miR-485-5p was downregulated in CRC patients compared to healthy controls. The findings suggest that the lncRNA NNT-AS1/hsa-miR-485-5p/HSP90 axis may be involved in CRC development and could be used for diagnosis.

LINC00460 Facilitates Cell Proliferation and Inhibits Ferroptosis in Breast Cancer Through the miR-320a/MAL2 Axis

Chuanqiang Zhang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the novel functions of long intergenic noncoding RNA 460 (LINC00460) in breast cancer, focusing on cell proliferation and ferroptosis. The expression of LINC00460 was found to be significantly increased in breast cancer tissues, and high LINC00460 expression was associated with longer overall survival rate. Knockdown of LINC00460 suppressed breast cancer cell proliferation and promoted ferroptosis. Mechanistic analysis revealed that LINC00460 promoted the expression of myelin and lymphocyte protein 2 (MAL2) by sponging miR-320a. Both miR-320a knockdown and MAL2 overexpression could reverse the effects of LINC00460 silencing on cell proliferation and ferroptosis.
