The spatiotemporal evolution and influencing factors of urban green innovation in China

Kai Liu et al.

Summary: Urban green innovation (UGI) is of great significance in building an ecological civilization and an innovative country. The level of UGI in China has been rapidly increasing from 2005 to 2020, with a geographical shift towards the south and west. UGI in China demonstrates significant global and local spatial autocorrelation. Government intervention, scientific and technological expenditure, and environmental regulation are the dominant factors influencing UGI.

Mechanism and Empirical Study of Excise Tax Affecting Green Development in China's Provincial Capitals-Mediating Effect Based on Technological Innovation

Xingcun Fang et al.

Summary: Based on panel data from 30 provincial capitals in China from 2005 to 2019, the study measured the level of green development using the entropy value method and analyzed its spatial distribution using ArcGIS software. By constructing a dynamic spatial Durbin model, the impact of excise tax and technological innovation on green development was examined. The findings show spatial differences in green development, with the east having the highest level, positive time inertia and spatial spillover effects, and varying effects of excise tax on green development in different regions. The study also demonstrates the mediating role of technological innovation in the relationship between consumption tax and green development in China's provincial capitals.

Spatiotemporal pattern evolution and influencing factors of green innovation efficiency: A China?s city level analysis

Ke-Liang Wang et al.

Summary: Based on the GSE-EBM model, this study evaluates the GIE of 285 cities in China from 2004 to 2018. It uses various methods to describe the spatiotemporal pattern of GIE and explores the spatial heterogeneity of its influencing factors. The results show regional disparities in China's urban GIE, with a gradually decreasing trend from the Eastern coastal region to the Central, Western, and Northeast regions. The study also identifies significant impacts of population density, economic development, transportation infrastructure, openness, and industrial structure on China's urban GIE, with spatial heterogeneity.

Milad Abbasiharofteh et al.

Summary: This study explores the use of relational web data to address the lack of large-scale data on firm interactions. By constructing a Digital Layer dataset from scraping hyperlinks, the authors demonstrate that the intensity and quality of firm hyperlinks are strongly associated with innovation capabilities. The findings have implications for evidence-based assessment of innovation policies in sectors and places.

Analysis of the China's Interprovincial Innovation Connection Network Based on Modified Gravity Model

Kai Zhu et al.

Summary: With the era of innovative economy, innovation becomes significant for China and the world. Based on statistical data from 2009 to 2019, this study examines the pattern and evolution of China's interprovincial innovation network. The results show that innovation output, input, and environment all play crucial roles, with increasing importance of the innovation environment. The network has a core periphery structure, with strong innovation connections in the east and weak in the west. Guangdong and Jiangsu provinces rank highest in outward innovation scale, and there is a gradual enrichment and strengthening of interprovincial innovation links, mainly concentrated in the Bohai Rim and Yangtze River Delta regions.

Exploring Regional Innovation Growth Through A Network Approach: A Case Study of the Yangtze River Delta Region, China

Zhang Yiqun et al.

Summary: This study combines complex network methodology with spatial econometrics to investigate the innovation growth in the Yangtze River Delta region. The findings suggest that innovation growth is primarily driven by networked agglomeration economies, with agglomeration factors playing a fundamental role and network factors contributing to new path creation. Institutional factors also have an impact on regional innovation patterns.

Regional differentiation in the ecological effects of land cover change in China

Hui Wang et al.

Summary: Land cover changes in China have diverse ecological effects on temperature, biomass formation, and greenness, which vary across different climatic regions and elevation levels. Forest conversion to grassland and shrubland has a warming effect, while cultivated land conversion to grassland and shrubland leads to reduced greenness and biomass formation. These findings provide insights for shaping China's land use policy to balance between cultivated and natural land.
