New pressure ulcers dressings to alleviate human soft tissues: A finite element study

Nolwenn Fougeron et al.

Summary: Pressure ulcers are a burden for patients and affect their quality of life, but using specific dressings can alleviate this pressure and promote healing. Simulations were conducted using the finite element method to analyze the mechanical interactions between the dressing and human skin/soft tissue. It was found that the dressing significantly reduced internal strains. An experiment on a volunteer also confirmed the effectiveness of the dressing.
