The WeChat platform-based health education improves health outcomes among patients with stable coronary artery disease

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of WeChat platform-based health education on patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD) compared with usual care. The results showed that in the WeChat group, patients received WeChat platform-based health education from a multidisciplinary team in addition to usual care, and after 12 months, there were significant improvements in blood pressure, lipid profile, fasting blood glucose, anxiety and depression scores, and angina symptoms compared to baseline levels.

Summary: Aging is the greatest risk factor for chronic diseases, including osteoporosis. Optimizing bone strength through nutrition, physical activity, and vitamin D status reduces fracture risk. Hormonal status, particularly estrogen, plays a major role in bone remodeling. Skeletal aging exacerbates bone loss and imbalanced bone resorption relative to formation, leading to increased marrow adiposity, osteoblast/osteocyte apoptosis, and accumulation of senescent cells. The underlying mechanisms of skeletal aging are diverse and complex.

A WeChat Mini Program-Based Intervention for Physical Activity, Fruit and Vegetable Consumption Among Chinese Cardiovascular Patients in Home-Based Rehabilitation: A Study Protocol

Summary: This study aims to develop and examine a WeChat mini program-based intervention for promoting physical activity and fruit and vegetable consumption among Chinese cardiovascular patients in home-based rehabilitation. The study will use a randomized controlled trial design, with 158 outpatients recruited from a cardiac rehabilitation center. The intervention will be based on the Health Action Process Approach and will consist of weekly learning sessions and incentive activities. Outcome variables include physical activity, fruit and vegetable consumption, healthy lifestyle, social-cognitive predictors of behavior change, and health outcomes. Data collection will occur at pre-test, post-test, and a 3-month follow-up.

Risk factors of refracture after a fragility fracture in elderly

Summary: This study examined the risk factors of recurrent fragility fractures in the elderly and found that being female and older age increase the risk of refracture. Older age at the first fracture also leads to a shorter time to the second fracture. The study highlights the importance of implementing prevention programs that should be continued for at least 3-4 years in patients with any type of first fragility fracture.

Further research with more rigorous designs is recommended to validate these results.
