Applying MCM-48 mesoporous material, equilibrium, isotherm, and mechanism for the effective adsorption of 4-nitroaniline from wastewater

Nisreen S. Ali et al.

Summary: In this study, MCM-48 mesoporous material was prepared and characterized for the adsorption of 4-nitroaniline from wastewater. Various techniques were used to characterize MCM-48, including SEM, EDAX, XRD, BET surface area, PSD, and FTIR. The batch adsorption results showed that MCM-48 was highly effective for adsorbing 4-nitroaniline. Isotherm and kinetic studies indicated that the adsorption mechanism involved both chemisorption and physical adsorption processes.

Decolourisation of Anionic Azo Dye in Industrial Wastewater Using Adsorption Process: Investigating Operating Parameters

Eman H. H. Khader et al.

Summary: In this study, zeolite NaX and Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles were used as adsorbents to remove anionic azo dye from aqueous solution. The effects of various variables on the adsorption process were investigated, including the initial dye concentration, shaking speed, pH, contact time, and adsorbent dose. Both adsorbents exhibited good removal efficiencies, with Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles showing higher efficiency than zeolite NaX. The Langmuir isotherm adsorption model and pseudo-first-order kinetics were found to be suitable for describing the adsorption behavior of both adsorbents.

Removal of sulfur compounds from real diesel fuel employing the encapsulated mesoporous material adsorbent Co/MCM-41 in a fixed-bed column

Ammar T. Khadim et al.

Summary: In this study, sulfur compounds were successfully removed from real diesel fuel using a continuous system with encapsulated mesoporous material with cobalt. The effects of bed height and flow rate on the efficiency of sulfur removal were investigated, and optimal operating conditions were determined. The results showed that Co/MCM-41 can be effectively used for sulfur concentration removal in fixed-bed adsorption systems.

Adsorption of methyl violet dye onto a prepared bio-adsorbent from date seeds: isotherm, kinetics, and thermodynamic studies

Nisreen S. Ali et al.

Summary: The potential of raw date seeds as an adsorbent for removing dyes from aqueous solutions was studied. The pseudo second-order model was found to be the best-fitting model for the adsorption process, and the Langmuir model was the better adsorption isotherm model. The study demonstrated that date seeds could effectively remove dyes from aqueous solutions.

Performance of a solar photocatalysis reactor as pretreatment for wastewater via UV, UV/TiO2, and UV/H2O2 to control membrane fouling

Nisreen S. Ali et al.

Summary: The study utilized a solar photocatalysis reactor as tertiary treatment for municipal wastewater, using UV, UV/H2O2, and UV/TiO2 as pretreatment steps to remove TOC and turbidity. The results showed that the highest removal efficiency was achieved with the UV/TiO2 combination.

Implementing eggplant peels as an efficient bio-adsorbent for treatment of oily domestic wastewater

Hyman J. Al-Jaaf et al.

Summary: The removal of oil from domestic wastewater was achieved using eggplant peels as a bio-adsorbent material, with time and temperature having a significant impact on the effectiveness of the process. The Langmuir model provided a reasonable fit for the adsorption isotherms, and the pseudo-first-order kinetic model accurately described the adsorption kinetics. Thermodynamic variables indicated favorable adsorption performance.

Effect of the surface hydration of clay minerals on the adsorption of cesium and strontium from dilute solutions

Yuriy Zabulonov et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of surface hydration of montmorillonite nanocrystals on the adsorption of cesium and strontium ions from dilute solutions, revealing that cesium ions are adsorbed more effectively than strontium ions due to their lower charge density and ability to easily overcome the ionic atmosphere and be firmly fixed on the outer surface of the montmorillonite nanocrystal.

Determination of chemical oxygen demand for phenolic compounds from oil refinery wastewater implementing different methods

Shaimaa T. Kadhum et al.

Summary: This study investigated the reduction of COD for wastewater contaminated by phenolic compounds using three techniques, with the addition of a granular third electrode (GTE) in the electrochemical process achieving the highest removal rate. Furthermore, using nFe(0) or SC-nFe(0) during adsorption significantly improved the removal rate of COD.
