Robotic assisted kidney auto-transplantation as a safe alternative for treatment of nutcracker syndrome and loin pain haematuria syndrome: A case series report

Summary: This retrospective study examined the outcomes and safety of robotic-assisted kidney auto-transplantation (RAKAT) in 32 patients with nutcracker syndrome (NCS) and loin pain haematuria syndrome (LPHS). The results showed that RAKAT was successfully completed in all patients, with 63% experiencing complete pain relief. The incidence of complications and acute kidney injury was similar to that reported for other surgical techniques.

Indications for and results of renal autotransplantation

Summary: The purpose of this review is to understand the indications and outcomes of renal autotransplantation and when to consider this unique procedure for patients. Recent findings show that renal autotransplantation has low rates of graft failure and can prevent the need for long-term dialysis. It is an important management strategy for complex renovascular disease, ureteral stricture disease, ureteral trauma, upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma, renal cell carcinoma, and Loin-Pain Hematuria Syndrome in select patients.
