Teacher self-efficacy and inclusive education practices: Rethinking teachers' engagement with inclusive practices

Stuart Woodcock et al.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between self-efficacy and inclusive education practices among 41 primary teachers in New South Wales, Australia. The findings showed that teachers with high and low efficacy had similar conceptual understanding of inclusive education, but their teaching practices differed. Informing teachers about inclusive education may have limited impact on their actual practices, and more support is needed to help teachers apply the concept of inclusive education to their teaching.

Exploring pre-service teachers' beliefs and practices about two inclusive frameworks: Universal Design for Learning and differentiated instruction

Julia Griful-Freixenet et al.

Summary: The study found that while UDL and DI practices have differences, they are highly interrelated in terms of ongoing assessment, self-efficacy, self-regulation, and motivation. Flexible grouping was identified as a predictor of UDL only. Overall, UDL and DI are considered as complementary approaches with sufficient internal consistency to be integrated.
