Changes in Health Literacy during the first year following a kidney transplantation: Using the Health Literacy Questionnaire

Kari Gire Dahl et al.

Summary: The study identified changes in health literacy during the first year following a kidney transplantation, with significant increase in the first 8 weeks but a flattening out at 6 and 12 months. Self-efficacy, transplant-related knowledge, and general health were core variables associated with health literacy. Low self-efficacy, less knowledge, and low self-perceived health may represent vulnerable characteristics in patients. It is suggested that future kidney transplant care should focus on patients' access to health information, social support, and potentially vulnerable groups.

Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on utilisation of healthcare services: a systematic review

Ray Moynihan et al.

Summary: During the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare utilization decreased by approximately one third, with greater reductions observed among individuals with milder illnesses. Studies suggest that understanding the impacts of these reductions on health systems may aid in reducing unnecessary care during postpandemic recovery efforts.

Home monitoring of physiology and symptoms to detect interstitial lung disease exacerbations and progression: a systematic review

Malik A. Althobiani et al.

Summary: The feasibility and potential benefits of home monitoring for patients with ILD have been demonstrated in 13 studies involving 968 patients. High adherence rates were reported in nine studies, and a significant correlation between home and hospital-based measurements was found in studies involving spirometry. Further research is needed to fully quantify the potential of home monitoring in detecting disease progression and exacerbations in ILD patients.
