Preloaded 22-gauge fine-needle system facilitates placement of a higher number of fiducials for image-guided radiation therapy compared with traditional backloaded 19-gauge approach

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy, feasibility, and safety of using a preloaded 22-gauge needle compared to a traditional backloaded 19-gauge needle for EUS-guided placement of gold fiducials. The 22-gauge group had a significantly higher mean number of fiducials successfully placed at the target site and a higher clinical goal achievement rate compared to the 19-gauge group. EUS-FP using a preloaded 22-gauge needle was found to be feasible, effective, and safe, allowing for a higher number of fiducials to be successfully placed.
