Resource planning strategies for healthcare systems during a pandemic

Analysis of the Vulnerability and Resilience of the Tourism Supply Chain under the Uncertain Environment of COVID-19: Case Study Based on Lijiang

The TSC demonstrates a trend of restorative growth, indicating opportunities for recovery, innovation, and change.

Summary: In the current world, firms face numerous challenges that can disrupt business continuity. The recent outbreak of the coronavirus has posed problems for supply chain networks, particularly in perishable product industries such as pharmaceuticals, dairy, blood, and food. Risk assessment is a valuable tool for mitigating the impact of the virus on these networks. This study utilized a decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory approach to evaluate the risks to perishable product supply chain networks during the pandemic. The analysis highlighted the importance of product perishability, unhealthy working conditions, supply-side risks, and work hours in influencing other risk factors. Competitive risks were found to be particularly susceptible during this era of the coronavirus outbreak.

The implications of COVID-19: Bullwhip and ripple effects in global supply chains

Summary: Using the financial proxies in the efficient market hypothesis (EMH), this study explores the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the bullwhip effect (BWE) and ripple effect (RE) in the supply chain upstream and downstream. Two models were developed to analyze this phenomenon, revealing that some companies are more affected than others and that the RE has increased after the pandemic while the BWE has not. The analysis also demonstrates a positive relationship between the number of relationships in the supply chain network and both the BWE and RE. Regression analysis further indicates that companies with a higher degree of operating level and debts, as well as a lower share price, are the most vulnerable to the BWE and RE.
