The spatial planning of public electric vehicle charging infrastructure in a high-density city using a contextualised location-allocation model

Sylvia Y. He et al.

Summary: The optimal deployment of public charging infrastructure is crucial for promoting electric vehicles in high-density cities. This study proposes a context-based optimization model that integrates government policy and spatial constraints, and tests it in the case of Hong Kong. The results indicate the need for expanding the existing charging network, extending charging facilities to other urban neighborhoods and suburbs, and installing more chargers at existing stations.

Electric vehicle drivers' charging behavior analysis considering heterogeneity and satisfaction

Yue Wang et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the factors influencing EV drivers' charging choices and proposed charging influence models and choice behavior models. Results revealed two decision-making patterns among EV drivers: service-concerned and pragmatic-concerned, suggesting the need for reliable high-quality charging services to attract more EV drivers.

Promoting electric vehicle adoption: Who should invest in charging infrastructure?

Rajeev Ranjan Kumar et al.

Summary: Electric mobility is seen as a key solution to reduce carbon emissions in the transportation sector, but the adoption of EVs is hindered by the lack of charging infrastructure. This study examines different models of developing charging infrastructure for EVs and finds that government subsidy to EV consumers combined with manufacturer investment is the most effective approach. Overall, strategies that maximize social welfare while minimizing environmental impact are essential for promoting electric vehicle adoption.

Charging infrastructure roll-out strategies for large scale introduction of electric vehicles in urban areas: An agent-based simulation study

Rick Wolbertus et al.

Summary: This paper examines how to organize a significant growth in charging infrastructure to meet the demand for large-scale introduction of EVs, using agent-based simulation to study the effects of different rollout strategies. The study finds that return to scale and reciprocal effects in charging infrastructure are considerable in the long term, resulting in a lower EV to charging station ratio.
