Cyathocotylidae spp and motile aeromonads co-infections in farmed Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) causing mass mortality

Nehal A. Younis et al.

Summary: Motile aeromonads and Cyathocotylidae spp. co-infections were found in farmed Nile tilapia suffering from mortalities. Moribund fish showed signs of septicemia, skin irritations, and respiratory distress. Bacteriological examination revealed infections with Aeromonas hydrophila, A. sobria, and A. caviae, while Cyathocotylidae spp. encysted metacercaria were found in parasitological examination. High levels of interleukin 6 (IL-6) and cluster of differentiation 4 (CD4) were noticed in fish with co-infection. The study provides valuable information for managing these pathogens in order to protect fish health.

Impact of Streptococcus agalactiae Challenge on Immune Response, Antioxidant Status and Hepatorenal Indices of Nile Tilapia: The Palliative Role of Chitosan White Poplar Nanocapsule

Afaf N. Abdel N. Rahman et al.

Summary: A new study investigated the synthesis of herbal plant extract using chitosan nanocapsule. The results showed that the chitosan white poplar nanocapsule had antibacterial activity against Streptococcus agalactiae. In addition, the study found that infection with S. agalactiae caused a significant increase in lipid peroxidation and hepatorenal biomarkers, as well as a decrease in antioxidants and immune indicators. Treatment with CWPNC alleviated these effects.
