Dual-Energy CT Pulmonary Angiography for the Assessment of Surgical Accessibility in Patients with Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension

Matthias Eberhard et al.

Summary: Dual-energy CT pulmonary angiography is highly sensitive in classifying the level of disease in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension and is associated with hemodynamic improvement after surgery.

Pulmonary endarterectomy in severe chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension: the Toronto experience

Marc de Perrot et al.

Summary: Pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA) in severe chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is associated with higher risks, but recent evidence suggests that these risks may be mitigated with the use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).

Imaging Advances in Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension

Micheal McInnis

Summary: Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a common but often overlooked complication of pulmonary embolism, which can lead to severe morbidity and mortality if left untreated. The treatment of CTEPH has made continuous advances, offering potentially excellent outcomes for patients who are diagnosed and treated promptly. Radiologic diagnosis of CTEPH involves multiple modalities, including digital subtraction angiography and high-quality computed tomography pulmonary angiography.

Balloon pulmonary angioplasty vs. pulmonary endarterectomy in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Liyan Zhang et al.

Summary: Balloon pulmonary angioplasty (BPA) may have higher survival rates in perioperative/in-hospital period, 2-year and 3-year follow-up, and fewer types of complications compared with pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA). PEA may be superior in improving hemodynamic parameters.
