A method for selecting processes for automation with AHP and TOPSIS

Diogo Silva Costa et al.

Summary: Organizations are increasingly using robotic process automation (RPA) to free up employees for higher-value tasks by delegating routine and rule-based tasks to software robots. However, the selection of suitable automation processes is crucial, as wrong choices can lead to negative perceptions and avoidance of this technology. This research proposes and evaluates a method that combines multi-criteria decision-making techniques to effectively select processes for automation, aiming to increase the success of RPA implementation in organizations.

Pruning Pareto optimal solutions for multi-objective portfolio asset management

Sanyapong Petchrompo et al.

Summary: Budget allocation problems in portfolio management are inherently multi-objective, and existing asset management methods may not be sufficient due to the complexity of the problem domain. This paper proposes a three-step approach to provide a diverse yet compact solution set for decision makers using novel indicators and evolutionary algorithms. Through numerical examples, it is demonstrated that this approach can maintain high integrity of the original Pareto front.

Landfill leachate treatment using hydrodynamic cavitation: exploratory evaluation

Luis F. Gutierrez-Mosquera et al.

Summary: Hydrodynamic cavitation is a new technology for treating wastewater. This study evaluated the effects of hydrodynamic cavitation on landfill leachate quality indices, and found the best cavitation time and hydrogen peroxide concentration to achieve the greatest reduction in pollutant load. The results showed significant reductions in BOD5, COD, TOC, and TSS, indicating that hydrodynamic cavitation is an effective method for treating wastewater.

Progress in mathematical programming solvers from 2001 to 2020

Thorsten Koch et al.

Summary: This study investigates the progress made in LP and MILP solver performance during the last two decades, comparing the solver software from the beginning of the millennium with the codes available today. On average, computer hardware speed for solving LP/MILP increased by about 20 times, and the algorithms improved by a factor of approximately nine for LP and 50 for MILP, resulting in a total speed-up of around 180 and 1,000 times, respectively. However, these numbers vary greatly and significantly underestimate the progress made on the algorithmic side.
