Body schema plasticity is altered in Developmental Coordination Disorder

Marie Martel et al.

Summary: Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) is a pathological condition characterized by impaired motor skills. This study found that DCD children exhibit changes in their body image (BI) after using tools, but do not update their implicit body schema (BS) estimates. However, DCD children perform similarly to typically developing peers in terms of the motor control of the tools, indicating preserved motor learning abilities in DCD.

Improving Body Representation and Motor Skills with a Preschool Education Program: A Preliminary Study

Ambre Patriau et al.

Summary: This study assessed the effectiveness of a school-based body representation program on preschool children's body representation abilities and motor skills. Results showed improvements in body representation accuracy and precision in the intervention group, as well as a reduction in common errors. Additionally, motor skills were shown to improve after the program.
