CEO Foreign Experience and Green Innovation: Evidence from China

Summary: This study examines the impact of CEO foreign experience on firm's green innovation and explores the mechanisms behind it. The findings reveal a positive correlation between CEO foreign experience and corporate green innovation. Moreover, this positive relationship is more pronounced in financially unconstrained firms, state-owned enterprises, and less competitive industries. The study also suggests that enhanced environmental ethics and general competency serve as potential mechanisms through which CEO foreign experience influences corporate green innovation. Lastly, it is found that CEO foreign experience is positively associated with green innovation quality and internationalization.

Digital transformation and environmental performance: Evidence from Chinese resource-based enterprises

Summary: Digitalization plays a crucial role in helping resource-based enterprises overcome the constraints of resources and the environment. This study examines the direct effects and transmission mechanisms of digital transformation on the environmental performance of China's A-share resource-based listed enterprises. The findings show that digital transformation significantly improves environmental performance by promoting green technology innovation, enhancing human capital accumulation, increasing environmental information disclosure, and strengthening environmental governance. State-owned, large-sized, and high-tech resource-based enterprises are more affected by digital transformation. The impact of digital transformation on the environmental performance of resource-based enterprises is more pronounced in the eastern region and areas with stricter environmental regulations. This study provides targeted suggestions for resource-based enterprises to take advantage of digital dividends and achieve high-quality development.

Environmental effects of the establishment of pilot free trade zones: evidence from Chinese resource-based enterprises

The effect of environmental regulation on green total-factor productivity in China's industry

Summary: This study employs different methods to estimate the industrial total factor productivity (GTFP) and its decomposition in 30 Chinese provinces from 2000 to 2019. It also uses a dynamic spatial panel model to test the effects of policy, action mechanisms, and environmental regulations on GTFP. The results indicate that a combination of policies is more conducive to GTFP growth. Further analysis reveals that command-and-control environmental regulations improve technical efficiency and narrow the technical gap, while market-based environmental regulations accelerate GTFP growth through technological advancements and a reduction in the technological gap.

CEO educational attainment, green innovation, and enterprise performance: Evidence from China's heavy-polluting enterprises
