Fearless but anxious? A systematic review on the utility of fear and anxiety levels to classify subtypes of psychopathy

Miriam J. Hofmann et al.

Summary: Research found that fear/anxiety levels are attenuated in primary psychopathy, while fear/anxiety experiences seem intact in secondary psychopathy. Primary psychopathy might have a more positive appraisal of consciously experienced fear. Due to inconsistent and comprehensive operational definitions, caution should be exercised in drawing conclusions about the potential of fear and anxiety to differentiate psychopathic subtypes.
